The Holistic Institute of Health and Fertility is Ann’s vision for providing a model of collaborative alternative healthcare to Calgarians.
“Originally, I didn’t want to work with fertility issues. It scared me as I felt that I couldn’t really offer the help women/couples were looking for.
However, the universe had different plans for me and my fertility case load began to steadily increase over the years. I didn’t advertise that I worked with fertility, nor had any literature about it. People just kept on showing up on my doorstep. In the last few years, I have found my greatest success to be working with other therapies in conjunction with the acupuncture/TCM. As everyone has different needs, putting together customized treatment plans just naturally evolved. Another very important area of practice that has emerged is prenatal care. Once our patients achieve conception, helping them (and baby) to remain healthy has been key.
My drive comes simply from my desire to be in service to others. I honestly do not know what else we are supposed to do here on this earth.”
Ann received her degree from the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). During her career, Ann spent time abroad studying under famous Acupuncturist Dr. Anton Jarasurya at the South Colombo Teaching Hospital in Sri Lanka where, daily, she treated hundreds of locals with Acupuncture and TCM.
Over the years Ann has lend her time to volunteer activities including AIDS Calgary and the Calgary Women’s Center where she has sat on their governance board and taught workshops introducing the concept of TCM.
Ann is a long time Provincial examiner with the Alberta College of Acupuncturists.

After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Victoria, Gina Rino continued her education at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Upon completing her exams to become a registered acupuncturist and level one Jin Shin Do acupressurist, Gina furthered her knowledge in holistic health by continuing studies in Eastern, Western, and Ayurvedic herbology to become a Planetary Herbologist.
Gina is also a licensed esthetician, and possesses the skills and knowledge to blend both Western and Eastern beauty practices. She has a special appreciation and skill set for practicing Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture and other Holistic Beauty Treatments.
In 2004, she studied with Virginia Doran, the Western World’s premier Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncturist.
Ask Gina about her specialty in Cosmetic Acupuncture. Educating and providing clients with the necessary resources to change their lives so they can take an active role in their own health and wellbeing are the two pillars of empowerment that form the foundation of Gina’s approach to healing.
Gina takes an integrative and dynamic approach to healing, tailoring treatments to the individual and the ever-changing needs of her clients.

I began my education with a degree in Natural Resource Science at TRU in Kamloops BC. The degree focused largely on plant identification which opened a door to Chinese Herbal Medicine.
After receiving a successful acupuncture treatment while living in Taiwan my interest in Asian culture and medicine was ignited. I proceeded to finish the doctor program for Traditional Chinese Medicine at the PCU College of Holistic Medicine in Vancouver British Columbia.
When I am not practicing Chinese Medicine I enjoy cross country skiing, biking and spending time with my amazing family. In this past year I have had the pleasure of embarking on the journey of motherhood. I am the proud mother of a 9 month old boy named Hastings. Hastings has taught me more about love in the last 9 months than I learned in my lifetime before his arrival..
